Bisazza FAQ

What is Bisazza, and how did the brand begin?

Bisazza is an Italian luxury design brand founded by Renato Bisazza in Alte, Vicenza, in 1956. Its first product was Vetricolor, a 20 × 20 mm coloured-glass tessera created for interior and exterior surfaces. Bisazza later became internationally recognised for glass mosaic and decorative surface design.

Why is Bisazza considered a reference in luxury mosaic and surface design?

Bisazza combines modern glass-production technology with mosaic craftsmanship, distinctive materials and internationally recognised design. Its collections range from architectural solid colours to artistic panels, precious-metal tesserae, marble surfaces and complete bathroom interiors.

Which designers and artists have collaborated with Bisazza?

Bisazza has worked with leading figures from architecture, art, fashion and design for more than twenty-five years. Notable collaborators include Fornasetti, Jaime Hayon, India Mahdavi, Nendo, Marcel Wanders, Ettore Sottsass, Andrée Putman, Patricia Urquiola, Paola Navone and Studio Job.

What Bisazza products are available at Select Interior World?

Which Bisazza collections are especially representative of the brand?

Representative collections include Canvas, Collezione Fornasetti, Gold Blends, Le Gemme, Opus Romano, Oro, Pools and The Crystal Collection. Other notable families include The Hayon Collection, The Mahdavi Collection, The Nendo Collection, The Wanders Collection and Timeless. Together, they cover architectural mosaic, precious surfaces, artistic decorations and complete bathroom design.

What is the difference between Solid Colors, Blends, Shading Blends, Decorations and Borders?

Solid Colors use one mosaic colour. Blends combine several colours in a repeated random mixture, while Shading Blends create a gradual transition between tones. Decorations form complete patterns or images. Borders are narrower elements used to frame or divide a surface.

How do Bisazza Mosaico, Marmosaico, Marmo, Cementiles and Wood differ?

Mosaico uses small glass tesserae. Marmosaico uses honed, hand-cut marble tesserae, while Marmo creates surfaces from larger marble elements. Cementiles are handcrafted cement tiles. Wood is a prefinished oak parquet system used for decorative indoor floors and selected wall applications.

What makes Bisazza Oro Bis, Le Gemme and The Crystal Collection special?

Oro Bis uses 24-carat gold foil in the yellow version or a gold-and-silver alloy in the white version, protected between two layers of glass. Le Gemme combines aventurine with coloured enamel granules for a sparkling handcrafted effect. The Crystal Collection uses Swarovski crystals with an exclusive Bisazza cut and colour range.

Can Bisazza mosaic be used in showers, swimming pools and SPA areas?

Many Bisazza mosaics can be used in wet areas, but suitability must be checked for the exact product. Follow the intended-use table and the specified Bisazza adhesive and grout system. The substrate must also receive separate waterproofing where required.

Which Bisazza products are suitable for floors and high-traffic areas?

Selected Opus Romano products are suitable for floors with heavy pedestrian traffic. Opus Romano Matt has a satin, non-slip finish and is particularly relevant around pools and in SPA areas. The technical sheet of the exact product must always be checked.

Can Bisazza create a custom mosaic from a drawing or image?

Yes. Bisazza Design Studio can evaluate a drawing, pattern, logo or photograph and select an appropriate mosaic technique. Selected decorations can also be resized, adapted to the surface or customised in colour. Complex designs may use smaller hand-cut tesserae arranged individually.

How is Bisazza mosaic supplied, and should it be installed by a specialist?

Bisazza mosaic is supplied on fibreglass mesh attached to the back or on gummed paper attached to the front and removed during installation. Bisazza recommends using a specialist mosaic installer because the laying technique differs from standard ceramic-tile installation.

How should quantity, grout and repeat orders be planned?

Provide the exact surface dimensions and let the installer calculate additional material for cutting and fitting. Use the grout colour recommended for the selected mosaic because it affects the final appearance. Glass batches may vary slightly, so retain the original batch number for any later reorder.

What is Bisazza Bagno?

Bisazza Bagno extends the brand’s decorative style to complete bathroom interiors. The programme includes washbasins, vanity units, bathtubs, fittings, mirrors, lighting and accessories, with collections designed by Jaime Hayon, Marcel Wanders, India Mahdavi and Nendo.
