1 Person Louis XVI Caned Bed, Circa 1785. Original: Château de l’Isle-Marie, Normandy. A classically formed bed in the «greek style» that gives an impression of understated elegance.
Without doubt the equal height and slight elevation of the headboards as well as the canning of the surface contributes to its general allure. Detailed and graceful carving gives a beautiful balance between a noble style and one of reserve. She is made of mostly paternosters and laurels. As a pair, their volume will not spoil the arrangement of a bedroom.
Louis XVI Style French style period reverting to classicism, inspired by the straight lines of ancient Greece and Rome, from 1777 to 1790, corresponding roughly to the reign of Louis XVI (1774 – 1793).
