How to Choose a Picture Light

Select a fixture that is visually balanced with the dimensions of the artwork. A wider painting usually requires a longer light or broader light distribution, while a compact model is more suitable for a smaller frame. As a general reference, the width of the picture light can be approximately one-third to one-half of the artwork width, although the correct proportion depends on the fixture and composition.

Also consider the projection from the wall, installation height and whether the artwork is protected by reflective glass. An adjustable model can help direct the beam more evenly and reduce unwanted glare.

Before ordering, check the dimensions, light output, colour temperature, colour rendering index, dimming compatibility, voltage and mounting requirements.
