Retour de Plage is an original bronze sculpture by the artist Josepha, created in 2007. The work depicts a graceful female figure captured in an inverted, playful pose, evoking lightness, freedom, and the carefree atmosphere of a summer day by the sea. Josepha was born in 1950 in southwestern France and lives in the rural surroundings of Drôme.
Drawing on her background as a fashion designer, Josepha has preserved a deep desire to highlight the female body. In her sculptures, she explores the full breadth of this universe, creating works imbued with a special atmosphere of grace and lightness.
Josepha portrays women in all their splendor by emphasizing their femininity, sensuality, tenderness, and their exuberant or gentle nature. Her figures live, move, breathe, and have nothing in common with classical academic art. If one had to choose a patron for her, it would inevitably be Degas.
Her sculptures embody complete grace, absolute lightness, delicacy, and the beauty of a dancer’s body.
