Europe Outside the European Union

Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom

Switzerland

VAT is calculated as follows: an 8.1% tax is levied on the total cost of the goods according to the CIF system (the cost of the furniture/lamps themselves + shipping/freight costs to the Swiss border + insurance). The processing is handled by our shipping partners FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. For deliveries by freight carrier, the carrier handles the processing.

Customs: As of January 1, 2024, Switzerland has abolished import duties on industrial goods (including furniture and lighting) regardless of their country of origin within the EU. The duty based on weight or HS code for these categories is 0%.

Additional customs duties apply to goods from non-EU countries.

Additional freight forwarder fees: Courier companies charge a fixed service fee for customs clearance of the package (usually starting at CHF 13, plus a percentage of the costs).

Norway

Price excl. VAT.

Shipping costs are calculated based on your delivery address.

Norwegian Value Added Tax (VAT): The standard rate is 25%. The total amount charged includes the cost of the goods, shipping and insurance. The processing is handled by our shipping partners FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. For deliveries by freight carrier, the carrier handles customs clearance.

For imports of furniture and lighting from the EU into Norway, the customs duty is 0%.

For goods from non-EU countries, additional customs duties apply.

Additional carrier fees: Courier companies charge a fixed service fee for customs clearance of the package.

United Kingdom

Shipping costs are calculated based on your delivery address.

Import VAT

The standard UK import VAT rate is 20%.

VAT is levied on the total cost, including the price of the goods, delivery costs, insurance and any applicable customs duties. The processing is handled by our shipping partners FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. For deliveries by freight carrier, the carrier handles the processing.

Customs

Rule of origin: If furniture or lamps are manufactured in the EU, customs duties are often 0% (under the UK-EU trade agreement).

For goods from non-EU countries, additional customs duties will apply.

For customs clearance and delivery of an order in the UK, UK Customs requires the customer's EORI number, regardless of whether the customer is a business or a private individual.

Customers in the United Kingdom can apply for an EORI number by completing the online form on the following website: https://www.gov.uk/eori/apply-for-eori.

Completing the application takes approximately five minutes.

Please send us your EORI number as soon as possible after placing your order and before it is shipped.

Australia and New Zealand

Australia

Price incl. GST (VAT) and incl. import duty.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the delivery address.

The final order value includes GST, import duty, customs clearance and shipping costs.

The import duty is 5%.

GST is 10%. It is calculated on the total amount, including the customs value of the goods, international freight or delivery costs, insurance and import duty.

Customs clearance is handled by our shipping partners FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. For deliveries by freight carrier, the carrier handles customs clearance.

Products originating from non-EU countries may be subject to additional customs charges.

New Zealand

Price excl. GST.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the delivery address.

The final order price includes shipping costs but does not include GST or import duties.

Once the goods arrive at their destination, GST, customs duties and handling fees are determined by the relevant customs authority.

These charges are invoiced to the recipient by the logistics partner or the customs authority.

Customs clearance is handled by our shipping partners FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. For deliveries by freight carrier, the carrier handles customs clearance.

GST (Goods and Services Tax): The standard GST rate is 15%. It is charged on the total cost of the goods, international transportation and insurance (CIF), together with any applicable duty.

Customs duty: For most categories of furniture and lighting from the EU, the rate is 0%. For certain types of upholstered or designer furniture with textile or leather elements, the duty can be about 5%.

By submitting an order and making payment, the customer accepts the applicable import regulations.

North America

Canada and the United States

Canada

Price excl. GST (VAT) and excl. provincial tax (PST/HST).

Shipping costs and provincial tax (PST/HST) are calculated based on the delivery address.

The final order value includes GST, provincial tax (PST/HST), customs clearance and shipping costs.

Import duties on products originating from EU countries are 0%.

Federal GST is 5% and is calculated on the cost of the goods, including delivery costs.

The provincial tax (PST/HST) depends on the recipient’s province. For example:

Taiwan and United Arab Emirates

When importing furniture and lighting products into Taiwan, an import duty (usually from 0% to 10%, depending on the materials) and value added tax (VAT) of 5% are charged. Taxes are calculated on a CIF basis (cost of goods + insurance + delivery).

United Arab Emirates

All shipments dispatched by Select Interior World are insured against theft and accidental damage.

Insurance coverage ends once the shipment has been received.

Standard Shipping

Small Parcels

Small parcels are shipped by FedEx, UPS or DHL Express. A tracking link is provided after dispatch.

Standard delivery does not require the recipient’s signature.

If a signature is required, please add a corresponding note in the order comments during checkout.

Parcels are delivered to the entrance door of the building on a business day.

Standard Shipping

Large Items

Large items are shipped using the most suitable freight or delivery service provider.

Unless otherwise agreed, delivery is made to the area in front of the recipient’s house.

Freight carriers normally contact the recipient by telephone or email to arrange delivery and may not provide online tracking.

The customer is responsible for disposing of packaging materials and pallets.

Special Shipping

Special delivery, including delivery to a selected room and assembly, is available upon request.

The product is delivered to the selected room, unpacked and assembled, and the packaging materials are then removed.

The transport company contacts the recipient by telephone or email to arrange the delivery.

*Customs duties, import VAT and handling fees charged directly to the recipient by customs authorities or logistics providers cannot be refunded by Select Interior World, even when the ordered products are returned.
