The Lumi Mochi pendant lamp is available in four sizes and is made up of diffusers in white blown glass of a very particular shape. This lamp allows a very effective consistent light throughout the room. It is ideal for the kitchen, the living room or the lounge of a private home but also for restaurants, bars and hotels.

The young designers Saggia&Sommella were given the precise goal of going beyond the typical round shape of light bulbs, which led to the creation of new diffusers in a variety of shapes. The name Lumi is important for two reasons: the first is more direct, being tied to the lighting world, which intends collecting under a single name a precise type of lamp, but with a refined and archaic term; the second has to do with the translation of the word “snow” in Finnish, i.e., “lumi”, thereby again underscoring how the main feature of these lamps is the opal white diffuser, with soft and delicate shapes, just like snow.
The collection is made up of hanging, table, floor, wall and ceiling lamps in many different shapes and sizes, for indoor use. In addition, the Mycena series makes it possible to create layouts with different glass panels using the special accessory, while the Mochi series also has a range of “falling” hanging lamps. All the diffusers are in white satin-finish blown glass, while the load-bearing structures are in white painted metal or polyester, reinforced with glass fibre. The lamp runs on mains power and is suitable for use with halogen, fluorescent and LED bulbs.

About Designer
Alberto Saggia & Valerio Sommella
Alberto Saggia was born in Novara on 21 August 1978. After completing scientific studies he attended university and obtained a degree in Industrial Design at the Milan Polytechnic, specialising in lighting. After finishing his university studies, in 2004 he began working with the firm Metis Lighting of Milan, where he continues to be employed in lighting design and the development of custom-made lighting solutions. In recent years, he has also held lighting design lessons in university courses, as well as been involved in design and graphic projects as a free-lance professional.
Valerio Sommella was born in Cortona in 1980. He obtained an honours degree in industrial design at Milan Polytechnic in 2004, the year he began working with Stefano Giovannoni. In 2007, he left Milan and moved to Amsterdam where he joined the team of Marcel Wanders until, in 2009, he decided to go it alone. He returned to Italy and set up shop once and for all in Milan where he started designing products that go from furnishings to consumer electronics for Italian and international clients; he also teaches at the Marangoni Institute.
